Beige definitely does not mean boring this season as major fashion weeks around the globe see classic neutrals take the spotlight. If you’re looking for a chic, sophisticated aesthetic this autumn / winter, read on. Caramel, cappuccino and taupe are just some flesh-toned palettes to desire, what’s more they’re versatile and timeless so will be long-term fixtures in your wardrobe. Our Personal Stylist Helen recommends dressing this trend from top-to-toe, pairing a beige roll neck sweater, chocolate brown pencil skirt and tan knee high boots to achieve an effortless but refined look. The Elys Edit showcased this trend with pieces by Weekend Max Mara and Reiss which created a beautifully striking silhouette.
This season, time turns back to the 1970s as collections feature prim, proper, and refined silhouettes. Think pleated A-line midi skirts, paisley print tie-neck blouses, wide-legged culottes and tweed blazers. Elegance and precision are at the heart of this trend and can be emulated pairing pieces from L.K. Bennett and Ted Baker. When the outside temperature really begins to plummet, place a faux fur coat over your shoulders for warmth without compromising on the overall polished look.
More-is-more certainly sums up Menswear collections this season. Anything is fair game right now – from sports technical to tailoring, there really is a trend that will work for you. One which may, at first glance, appear to be a little outside of your comfort zone is print. The latest collections boast intricate florals and bold animal markings in a spectrum of colours. If you’re unsure how to wear the trend, why not take Helen’s advice by gradually introducing pieces into a total look. Pair a bright patterned shirt with neutral trousers as seen here courtesy of Ted Baker and Boss. If you’re feeling extra brave, up the ante and add a clash by layering a check coat.
There’s no doubt Nineties trends are having a moment. From stand-out colour blocks, bold logos and stripes, fashion giants including Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren have gone into the archives to re-invigorate some of their classic looks. This season, introduce après-sport in to your wardrobe. Put simply, après-sport are pieces that are loose, soft and offer luxe comfort for well-deserved dress-down days. Perfect for men and women alike, pair your activewear with jeans and a simple trainer. Or toughen up the look with a biker boot from Tommy Hilfiger or heeled variant by Carvella.
