Founded in London in 1799, Atkinsons is a fragrance house celebrated for its timelessness, elegance and distinctly British character.
The story began when James Atkinson arrived in cosmopolitan London with a collection of recipes for fine scents and toiletries—and a bear, reportedly a real live one, by his side. Driven by an adventurous spirit, he began creating and trading perfumes and beauty products of his own invention.
His luxurious and original concoctions quickly became a sensation among high society, who were captivated by his beguiling fragrances and revolutionary products. Among his most notable creations was a boldly English eau de cologne, which stood apart from the Italian-style colognes popular at the time.
Over the years, Atkinsons’ distinguished clientele has included the Tsarina of Russia, the Rothschild dynasty, Queen Victoria and Napoleon. Today, the house continues to embody the daring spirit, refinement and enduring elegance that have defined it since 1799.
