The Languedoc is a vast region stretching across much of the south and Mediterranean and is France`s single largest vineyard entity for its Vins de Pays wines. Within the Languedoc lie several distinctly identified Vins de Pays (including the l`Aude, Gard and Hérault) and many generic appellations that maintain traditional local blends and wine styles such as Minervois, Corbières, Pic Saint Loup and Fitou.
- Made from one of the oldest grape in Languedoc (first mentioned in the 17th century), Piquepoule means picked by the hen. The Picpoul de Pinet vineyard area runs along the southern French coast, separated from the Mediterranean sea only by the Bassin de Thau, France`s second largest lake famous for its oysters.
- Picpoul is a bright straw yellow in colour with a very fresh and floral nose. The palate is dry and refreshing with notes of citrus, some tropical fruits and a distinctive mineral edge.
- Size: 75cl
- Food: The classic match for this wine is oysters farmed from the Bassin de Thau.
